10 000 steps
Wear a pedometer and make it count
There is clear evidence that undertaking just 30 minutes of physical
activity of moderate intensity on most if not all days of the week benefits
health. The 10 000 Steps Project aims to increase the day-to-day activity
of Australians by encouraging the accumulation of "incidental" physical
activity as part of everyday living. Significant health and well being benefits can be made simply by moving more everyday. We are encouraging the community to think more about movement as an opportunity not an inconvenience.

Wearing a pedometer to count your steps makes you more aware of how
far you are actually walking. At the end of the day you may need to add a
walk to reach your goal of 10 000 steps. 10 000 steps is approximately
6-8kms depending on your stride length.

If you're not very active right now that's OK. Start off slowly and
gradually increase your activity over time. Even small increases in your
daily activities can have a big impact on your health.

Ulverstone 10000 Steps
‘Just a walk in the park’

The Ulverstone 10 000 Steps is held during Get Walking Week in November.
The walk is an initiative of the Ulverstone Community House working
in partnership with other groups in the community. The walk is a fun walking
event with activities, displays and clues to guide you along the walk. You
may walk as an individual or as part of a team. The event starts and finishes
at the Ulverstone Rowing Club, Kings Parade Ulverstone. There will
be giveaways and prizes for those people who complete the course.
